In stereo reproduction, at least two sound sources are reproduced in such a way that the listener gets a spatial impression and a stage is built up in front of the listener. To ensure that the sound reproduction of stereo loudspeakers can be technically realised well, stereo recordings have also been made in the studio for several decades. Two microphones record the different signals for each channel. In the recording studio, the differences in running time and the levels are then mixed and adjusted in such a way that the sound source is no longer directly perceptible and the impression is created that the sound originates halfway between the loudspeakers. Experts speak here of the so-called phantom sound source. For stereo sound, it is important that both speakers form a homogeneous sound team, which is why floor-standing systems are best recommended for home use. When both speakers are optimally arranged, the sound image results in a coherent, clean sound regardless of the volume or the sound source. Music and sound reproduction is particularly detailed and powerful with 3-way speakers, as these are capable of reproducing the entire frequency range. With smaller speakers, such as bookshelf speakers, the speakers can reproduce low tones, but do not reach subwoofer level. With small micro speakers, such as our CONSONO or CUBYCON speakers, you even need an active subwoofer to reproduce the complete sound spectrum. You can also distinguish between passive speakers and active speakers. When using passive speakers, you need a separate amplifier that supplies the necessary power to operate your speaker boxes. How many watts of output power the amplifier should have (measured in RMS or sine) depends on the continuous power handling and the impedance (resistance measured in ohms) of the speakers.

Of course, we also offer stereo systems with amplifiers as a set. compact systems of the KOMBO series, you have the additional advantage that the amplifier has a headphone output and a phono input, so you can also use record players without a preamplifier. Dual record players also offer models with an integrated preamplifier, so that you can connect them directly to the AUX input. We also offer smaller, coordinated loudspeaker systems ( compct systemsn) so that you don't have to do any tedious research or pay attention to any technical data. With active loudspeakers, in contrast to passive loudspeakers, the amplifier is already integrated into the speaker and therefore no additional device is necessary for the set-up. Another advantage of our active speakers is the connection options. Each of our active speakers has a separate AUX input and selected models, such as the ULTIMA 40 AKTIV, also have an HDMI ARC connection for the TV, as well as a Toslink connection for connecting your computer's sound card. In addition, Bluetooth is integrated as standard in all our active stereo speakers, and for wireless music streaming via WIFI you can use smart speakers such as the compact HOLISTEN, which can be operated via an app on your smartphone or voice control with Amazon Alexa. For stable Bluetooth connections, we have also made sure that all Bluetooth speakers support at least the 4.0 standard.

Setting up stereo speakers correctly is relatively easy. All you have to do is observe the so-called stereo triangle and, in the case of a shelf or micro speakers, the set-up height. Of course, you don't have to pay attention to the height of floor-standing or column speakers because they are already at the perfect height. As a rule of thumb, the distance between the front speakers and the seating position should be about the same. At best, each angle in the stereo triangle should be 60 degrees. If you use smaller speakers or bookshelf speakers, you should position them at a height of about 1.50 m or at ear level of your final seating position.
